Patient with Bladder Cancer Successfully Treated in Abu Dhabi

A comprehensive medical team from the Urology and Oncology departments at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City (SSMC) has successfully treated a patient with muscle-invasive bladder cancer through a comprehensive treatment plan. The patient, Mandesh Gomez from Bangladesh, had suffered from chronic bladder pain and a burning sensation during urination for over 20 years. Examinations conducted in Abu Dhabi at the beginning of this year revealed the presence of a large amount of blood in his urine. A subsequent cystoscopy later confirmed the presence of a tumor, leading to his referral to Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City. The treatment plan included two months of chemotherapy under the supervision of Dr. Deepthi Selimon, followed by a robot-assisted radical cystectomy.
